Italiano Pizza Pentola is an easy family meal that really is as simple as placing your favourite pizza toppings into an individual ramekin, or ‘Fancy Pot,’ and baking into a gooey pizza dip that everyone will love. The best part about this recipe is that each family member – no matter how big or small – can build their own pizza just the way they like it!
For our Italiano Pizza Pentola, dates were used to create a sweet and creamy Caramel Béchamel sauce on the bottom then layers of spicy Italian sausage, roasted peppery wild mushrooms, Kalamata olives, and grated Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. Next, our ‘Fancy Pots’ were placed on a parchment lined baking sheet – you can even add your names on the paper to mark your personal creation – and baked until slightly bubbling and golden brown. Served with Herbed Garlic Flatbread (gluten free option) for dipping alongside a hearty Caesar salad with Strawberry Fig Balsamic Glazed Guanciale, Garlic croutons, and Citrus zest.
